Pin of the Month - April 2022
Earth Day has always been a holiday you hear about a few days after its passing. It's not high on many people's list and there's no large communal celebration. I never felt a reason notice nor care, until now. Because on April 22nd, 1998, Disney's Animal Kingdom opened to the public. That's why this pin was selected for this month.
These Disney pins were available only in the Starbuck locations in each park (Yes, each of the 4 theme parks at WDW have their own Starbucks). As a way of celebrating Walt Disney World's 50th Anniversary these were made available starting 10/1/21. And while they did make one for each park, I only bought the Animal Kingdom one. Even as a write this, more and more does Animal Kingdom feel like home. It's not my favorite park to visit as a guest, but that's just like your house isn't your favorite place to be. You can enjoy the experiences and settings somewhere else, but when you want to relax and feel safe and welcomed, as the young thief said, "there's no place like home." While there's glamour and heritage and all that working at the Magic Kingdom, that's not what I'm a Cast Member for. I'm here to have fun and interact with guests and just have a stressfree time at work. What symbolizes that connecting better than the Tree of Life. All creatures, big and small, harmoniously living together. That's what I think about seeing this pin over and over again in my collection.
That and I think the color combination is neat.
And I like the little dangly Starbucks part.
